The Vampire Diaries ##TOP##

From the story of the anti-hero and redemption to the hero who loses their way, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies have certainly shared a lot of storylines over the universe's thirteen-year run. Unfortunately, between Mystic Falls and New Orleans, The Vampire Diaries Universe could not help but be repetitive in some of its storytelling. While some overused plot lines were specific to a show, such as The Vampire Diaries' severe Doppelgänger problem or Malivore's use as a long-time villain on Legacies, other plot lines in some way or another, appeared throughout the trilogy. In addition, flashbacks to explain the backstory of certain characters, such as vampires or monsters, became a trademark of the vampire franchise.

The Vampire Diaries

Each of the three shows featured at least one love triangle, but sometimes the overuse was in how long the love triangle lasted. Other times, constantly resurrecting characters to the point where death seemed to lack all meaning was a central plot point on various occasions. Even having a main character in some way separated from their loved ones played a role in The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies in unique ways. But perhaps the main thing that all three shows had in common was that, one way or another, someone, at some point, would become a vampire.

Stefan is one of the most prominent examples, going from an animal-eating, controlled, and empathetic vampire to a ripper serial killer when his humanity is off. Caroline and Elena each followed a similar path when they went through a no-humanity arc. On Legacies, Hope goes through a similar dark period after her humanity turns off. Josie does as well after taking in all the black magic and gets a short Dark Josie arc, portraying a more vengeful side to her personality. Seeing the dark side of a usually good or kind character allows for more growth from them.

There is no such thing as an uncomplicated family in The Vampire Diaries Universe. Damon promised Stefan an eternity of misery after completing his transition into a vampire in 1864. For decades afterward, Stefan and Damon's relationship would teeter on the edge of reconciliation before again becoming destroyed. The Mikaelson family, however, is worse. Between centuries of daggering, betrayals, and attempted murders, the family is nearly always in conflict with each other in some way. Esther and Mikael try to kill their children many times. The siblings bounce around, betraying each other. On Legacies, Hope holds the weight of her family's actions while Josie and Lizzie struggle when they discover they might have to Merge at the age of twenty-two and are nearly killed by their sociopath uncle, Kai.

By season four, nearly every main character was either a vampire or a werewolf-vampire hybrid. Caroline's transition was the most successful vampire transformation as Caroline truly came into her own following embracing her life as a vampire. Elena and Tyler also joined the ranks of vampires at later points. Hayley becomes a hybrid in the aftermath of Hope's birth when she dies while Hope is born. While Cami would have preferred to remain human, she also ended up a vampire. Sadly, her transition was not as successful as Caroline's, nor did she survive long after transitioning. On Legacies, Hope activates her vampire side and later accidentally turns Lizzie into a Heretic, as Lizzie had previously ingested vampire blood.

Bennett blood is a powerful tool in The Vampire Diaries Universe. In addition to being powerful witches, Bennett blood is an integral ingredient to escaping a Prison World. Doppelgänger blood is also a massive plot device. Elena is sacrificed in Klaus' ritual because she is Katherine and Tatia's Doppelgänger. Elena and Stefan's blood is the key to powerful spells and breaking many curses. In addition, Klaus, as a Hybrid, and Hope, as a Tribrid, can heal a vampire's werewolf bite with their blood.

The Vampire Diaries is one of the most popular vampire YA fiction series of all time, predating even the Twilight Saga fandom! The first book made its debut in 1991 and was quickly followed by three sequels. After a decade-long hiatus, author L.J. Smith revived the series with more volumes that explored the characters and world she introduced 30 years ago, buoyed to new heights by the popularity of the television adaptation. The Vampire Diaries premiered on the CW in 2009 and ran for eight seasons, attracting new and old fans alike.

The Vampire Diaries follows the life of 17-year old Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), who falls in love with a centuries-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and his brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), also a vampire. As a result, this draws Elena and her friends into the supernatural world of Mystic Falls, where it is plagued by vampires, werewolves, witches, doppelgängers and Original Vampires. As a result, Elena and her friends have made enemies including the Original Vampires/The Mikaelson Family and Katerina Petrova and later on Silas and the Travelers. The series also focuses on the lives of Elena's friends and other inhabitants of the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

The Originals centers on Klaus Mikaelson and the Original Family of vampires, as he makes his returns to the supernatural crucible that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former apprentice Marcel. At first, it is only Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah but as the show goes on people thought dead as well as new faces appear.

The Vampire Diaries is a young adult vampire, romance and horror series of novels created and written by L. J. Smith. The story centers on Elena Gilbert, a young, beautiful high school girl who finds herself eventually torn between two Italian brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore, who are centuries old vampires. The series was originally a trilogy published in 1991, but pressure from readers led Smith to writing a fourth volume, Dark Reunion, which was released the following year in 1992. The first four novels in the original series: The Awakening, The Struggle, The Fury and Dark Reunion all feature Stefan Salvatore and Elena Gilbert as the main narrators and protagonists of the series. The first three novels in the original series are from both Stefan and Elena's point of view, but the last book in the original series, Dark Reunion, is from Bonnie McCullough's viewpoint. Smith announced a new spin off trilogy in 2007 entitled The Vampire Diaries: The Return, which featured Damon Salvatore as the narrator of the trilogy. The first installment of The Return trilogy, Nightfall, was released on February 10, 2009. Shadow Souls, the second book of The Return trilogy, was released on March 16, 2010. The third and final book of The Return trilogy, Midnight, was released on March 15, 2011.

Now Elena is not just human. She has powers and gifts that were bestowed on her in the afterlife. What's more, her blood pulses with an overwhelming and unique force that makes her irresistible to any vampire.

Elena Gilbert's love, the vampire Stefan Salvatore, has been captured and imprisoned by demonic spirits who are wreaking havoc in Fell's Church. While her friends Bonnie and Meredith explore the evil that has taken over their town, Elena goes in search of Stefan.

In order to find him, she entrusts her life to Stefan's brother, Damon Salvatore, the handsome but deadly vampire who wants Elena, body and soul. Along with her childhood friend Matt, they set out for the slums of the Dark Dimension, where Stefan is being held captive. It is rumored to be a world where vampires and demons roam free, but humans must live enslaved to their supernatural masters . . .

The show ran from 2009 to 2017 and, as the name of the show suggests, followed a group of vampires in the fictional town of Mystic Falls. The series, starring Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder Paul Wesley and Steven R McQueen, earned a cult following during its time, and remains to this day a beloved part of the pop culture canon.

What if Damon compelled Elena more than twice prior to her transition? Damon doesn't like anyone to see the good in him, and it's so easy to erase memories of its existence. On the day she becomes a vampire, Elena remembers. Takes place in early S4 with a subtle flavor of canon-divergence for maximum D/E goodness.

For a brief time in entertainment history, vampires were all the rage. Buffy, Twilight, and True Blood proved that audiences thirsted for vampire-human romance, so The CW capitalized on that craze with its adaptation of L.J. Smith's The Vampire Diaries novels. The series, which immediately claimed its own newfangled audience, became a major hit for the network, but it wasn't all sunshine rings and crows for this show. Here's the story you might not know about The Vampire Diaries.

Kevin Williamson, a beacon of the teen scene thanks to Scream and Dawson's Creek, initially snubbed the idea of TVD. The writer-producer admitted his fear that it might be a "Twilight rip-off, no matter which [novel series] came first," due to the ultra similar premises: small-town girl falls for impossibly handsome boy who just so happens to be a secret vampire, and she kind of digs his undeadness. It was co-creator Julie Plec who changed his mind about that, though, and convinced him to check out Smith's novels before giving it a hard pass. "I began to realize that it was a story about a small town, about that town's underbelly and about what lurks under the surface." Williamson responded to the central character's struggle with grief from the loss of her parents and that there was a sense of "hopelessness" about her situation that could really resonate with the Dawson's Creek crowd. That dramatic distinction was ultimately enough for him to put his stamp on the effort.

From September 2009 until March 2017, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Candice King, Kayla Ewell, Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham, Zach Roerig, Michael Trevino and Matt Davis brought the town of Mystic Falls to life on The CW. Based on the book series of the same name by L. J. Smith, the fan-favorite show followed the story of Stefan Salvatore after he returns to his Virginia hometown and falls in love with Elena Gilbert. As all eight seasons went on, vampires, werewolves and other supernatural beings were introduced to viewers. 041b061a72
